Jobs are available for Candidates starting from Diploma level, B.E./B.Tech. Civil Engineering graduates to Post doc Fellowships  in Government as well a Private Sector. There are big enterprises like ONGC, BHEL, IOC, PWD, Electricity boars, Town Planning department, NHAI, Armed Forces, Indian Railways and many more which are recruiting Civil Engineers in India.

 The salary of a Civil Engineer may vary from company to company but it ranges from 2-5 lakh per year for fresher and less experienced to 10 lakh per year for experienced Engineers. Due to the increase in Infrastructure  development projects and industrialisation, there is a great demand for a Civil Engineer in India. Also, initiatives by Indian government like MAKE IN INDIA are urging for increase in Infrastructure construction.

Experience matters

The salary of the Civil Engineers varies according to their experience. A Civil Engineer with an experience less the 5 years earns Rs 3,00,000 per year whereas a person with the experience level of 5-10 years can easily earn Rs 5,25,000 per year. These figures may vary from company to company. The Civil Engineer with more than 20 years of experience can easily earn Rs 10,00,000 per year.
According to recent reports of Royal Institute of Chartered surveyors,  there is a requirement of 400,000 civil Engineers by 2020.

Research Organisations

There are three major public research centres in India which run under the Government of India:

1) ISRO ( Indian Space Research Organisation ) :

They also one who recruit CIVIL engineers every year by conducting a written examination. They release a notification in the month of Feb-march. They often take campus recruitment in IIT’s, NIT’s and some top most universities.

2) DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organisation):

They often have entrance exam once in two years but at time they can even conduct the exam twice in two years. There sometimes have recruitment in IIT’s, NIT’s and some top most universities.

3) BARC’s (Bhabha Atomic Research Centre):

Every year they recruit engineers through GATE score or by written exam conducted by BARC.

4) Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs):

IITs have got great laboratories and equipment to carry out research works. Several projects are being allocated to the Professors of these India’s premiere Institutes with sufficient funding to do research works. Several positions where a Civil Engineer can fit into these Institutes are:
1) Research Assistant (Minimum qualification: B. Tech graduation)
2) Junior Research fellow (M.Tech)
3) Research Associates (Ph.D scholars)
4) Post-docs and Fellowships (Ph.D)
